Cool! Real cool! Only one thing...the graphics look like bishops...
You have a point I can change units colors and shading for a unit's sprite extremly easily. Um, perhaps I should chage the white to yellow or something. I'll post a few different versions for comment.

Necromancers and grey ghosts have the monster summon and they can damage you just like the energy blast. I don't think the amber mage are needed.
I think, just like Jeppo said, there's already two enemies with that sort of capability.
Maybe something unique would work, like leaving a path of fire behind him wherever he walks to cut off Merlin's escape.

Updated with a orange instead of white shirt version that looks less like a bishop.

To Jeppo and austonst; Yes, there are already enemies that do that sort of damage, but it still adds variety to the game.
Oh the "hat" is actually suppose to be red hair. I don't know about the ruby staff. I suppose I can take another look at it.

Oh I forgot to mention I updated the image to include him turning into a flaming comit to zoom across the screen damaging people.

I think it would be better if he fired a (slightly smaller) comet...
Army summon doesn't hurt enemies this game, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if enemys' monster summon didn't either.
Wait - I just realized something! Thanks, Firestorm, off to the "Contact Us" submission form! Steve said that Monster Summon won't be in MR3, but if he's giving it to the Necromancers he might as well let Merlin have it!

He's a flame mage; he'll be immune to it.
I know he's fire-proof, kinda obvious...all I'm saying is that him whizzing around the screen would make him hard to kill, specially as it isn't logical that someone flameproof could be harmed by energy blast while on fire...I've an idea: He can't see you because of the flames, so whizzes around randomly and unstoppably. The only way to kill him is if the fire slowly goes out as he gets tired...do your magic!

I would exect him to 'go comet', then zoom in a direction in a straight line, then stop and turn back to normal.
I meant for his attack to go off as firestorm said and he also has to charge up his spell to move faster,go farther, and do more damage.

The animation came out a bit better than I expected. And now I too want Merlin to find a similar spell.

In other words, I agree with Sketch...
Nice animation! Works well how he attaks i think. U would get him when he stops to charge up. Maybe when hes enveloped in fire, it also acts as a shield?
Also, about the fact that there are other spell-casters in the game already, I think it would be cool if there were a lot of different types of enemy spell-casters in the game... its like the Dark Sorceror's minions!

I would like to see this guy in MR4 the graphics are done but the attack would require extra programming and might slow down the game with collision detection so *shrugs* move it to MR4 database if you think he might make the game.

cool ember mage idea. maybe we should call him Ruby or Ketchup? maybe we could have a whole line of "Gemstone Mages" or "Condiment Mages"!

the food mages... the food wizards... the foods... its not clicking. Maybe because food and magic DON'T GO WELL TOGETHER. You don't get the same nutrition out of them.

No no no, we were just joking about a different kind of mage altogether. I personally would hate it if your mage got changed.
this is a great idea but we have to be careful not to put alot of wizards or mages in the game beacuse we already have black wizards, ghosts, thundermonk, dark thundermonks,green wizards and now of course ember mages still a great idea though
The game is about Merlin, the great Blue Bomber(get the cliche?), so of course there will be mages. Plus, all of those are on different teams.

Ya but could u imagine a bunch of power blasts flying around the screen.Im just saying there should be more monsters and beasts.
If Merlin wants to have the spell for that, there should be some kind of a spawning Pyro Guaridan or somthing.... that should spawn ember mages
