A city or town could be a collection of screens arranged in a square, with a town or city centre square in the middle.
When you first come across a city, it would be overrun with enemies, or might even be an enemy city (like an orc or goblin city). You fight your way to the middle where you fight a big battle. Creatures like Goblins, Orcs and Men drop their weapons when killed. Others can pick up and use them. There would be no size limit to which weapons could be used by which creatures, so you could have a tiny little man or goblin weilding the massive sword that the Black Orc uses.
The damage done would be calculated by the strength of the character plus the damage of the weapon.

Once you've cleared a screen, you can summon this chap to go and have a look at the nearby screens to see what monsters lie in wait for you. He will come back with a verbal report giving a rough idea of the types and quantities, giving you a chance to prepare for the battle.

Things like Warriors, Archers, Magicians.
There should be a way to set which unit you wish to summon. With Monster Summon it was hard to spam Skeleton Warriors without accidentally summoning Orcs.

Merlin summons a fireball. when he lets go, a Stream comes out hitting everything in it's path. But with every monster it hits it decreases it's power. like this:

A spell that should be found a bit later in the game. Now all of you hate it when you go a very far way but then find yourself in a dead end so instead of walking through the levels that you passed you should be able to warp to a level youve already beaten. To do this all you should have to do is be in a level that has no enemy there (I.E. a cleared level) then charge up the spell, use it on yourself, then the mini map in the corner will take up the whole screen. Merlin can already be a 2-player game (1 on mouse, one running around.) To add a third person you could have them control a little errand boy that has very low health, but could run around with the wasd keys and pick up powerups and weapons and deliver them to Merlin. If he dies, Merlin can summon him again.

I think there should be static weapons, which any enemy or friend can use.

These could be things like a ballista, which fires a massive metal arrow at people. Or a catapult. They could be detroyable but have a lot of hit points so they can't be got rid of to easily. Getting control of one static weapon and using it to fire at another could be a good tactic though.

My plan for Ulin the white was that he should appear on the screen to "drain" the evil wizards. You must keep them occupied while he works.

As he drains them, their powers get less. It will take him quite a while to do because he is the only one doing it. If he gets hit while he works, he will teleport out of the screen to heal himself and then teleport back in again to continue.

After you beat the game for the first time it allows you to choose another wizard to play the game as. The wizards all have different abilities, i.e. the gray wizard would have low health and be physically weaker but starts with strong spells and if there are cities he could maybe get free stuff because everyone knows him.

The Flux Spell looks like an energy blast but instead of exploding it implodes. It sucks enemies in then another explosion occurs shooting them back out. Its like a vacuum then it blows up hurting enemies both times. The explosion hurts a little more.

Drop the army summon.
Yes that's right, if I got rid of that spell, the game would be a lot easier to balance and it seems like for a lot of people it would be more fun.
In order that the huge amount of work I put into it wasn't totally wasted, I could either do an 'army summon only' bonus level, or use it to make a different game with. Probably an offshoot of MR.
What do you think of that?
