Hi all, long time no see!

Last weekend I was daydreaming about playing a Merlin's Revenge roguelite. The concept seems exciting, since it could provide more of an arcade feel to MR. Generating random maps from predetermined screen structures and various "biomes" doesn't seem too difficult, and pushing one's luck in an MR2 Scoring kind of way could be a nice way to earn bonuses.

Editing Merlin's Health (2)

Hi, all.

I've been tinkering with MR Open for a a few weeks, and have been having a bit of fun. My only problem my be due to a lack of programming experience, but I wanted to know if it were possible to edit a file or set of files to allow Merlin's health to be changed from standard to a much higher value. I want to make some insanely difficult maps with magic limits and give Merlin a sword allowing him to use blasts primarily as a way to stun enemies before closing in for the kill. Golden Castle - version 1.2.1 (4)

I made a new map in 2014 but did not end up testing it. I tried it out just now - and was surprised to learn that it works fine in Merlin Open 30 (editor v40, engine v76)! Since I really liked the layout and had used dozens of hours with this back in the day, I decided to do the final rebalancing needed for publishing. URLs that start with https:// (6)

Typical URLs are parsed correctly to automatically become enclosed in <a> tags. However, this does not happen if the URL starts with https://. Considering that many browsers these days also copy the URI scheme (unlike when this was implemented and e.g. IE6 would copy only what the user sees), this would be handy to avoid the manual input of <a> tags altogether.

Don't load all comments when approving (14)

Hi!

Turns out that the Ajax script for loading only the most recent comments is not used when approving comments... Which of course makes it necessary to scroll through the entirety of huge suggestions when approving comments.

I'm doubtful this will ever be implemented, but hey, a suggestion DB is for making suggestions, right? ;)

Why can't i play anything on this website anymore? It just makes me download this weird file that is a .dcr, and i can't play it even if i put it into a browser, it just re-downloads.

So there's this project course I'm taking, and I'm leaning towards a game design -oriented theme. Most of the options didn't really spark me that much, but then I noticed "tower defense" amongst the possible genres. Of course, what better way would there be to do it than steal other people's ideas and graphics expand the MR fangame universe while at it.

MR1-esque (14)

Long time no see! Here's my "new" map, modeled tile-by-tile after the map from the original MR! However, a lot has been changed as well, to make use of MR Open's engine. It's not nearly as tough as the danmaku maps, but it should still give quite a challenge to the average player while having the fun MR1-ish feeling. The question lingers, though - will you be able to beat it?

Dwarves unsummoning on screen clear (2)

When dwarves are building the tower, they don't auto-unsummon like everyone else before they have finished it. Seeing how there's no point in actually building the tower in a screen with no enemies and how selecting the army summon spell to unsummon them is bothersome in a game where the army management is, thankfully, automatic nowadays... They totally should unsummon like everyone else, even if they are busy building their towers.

Better targeting system (9)

Seeing how allied units are slow to choose their targets, the target chooser for magical units could be made a little smarter while reducing the load (at the expense of memory). I don't know the current implementation, but what I had in mind was that since magical units generally have an unlimited range, they could have a sort of priority list of the currently alive enemies and target not the one closest but the one of highest priority.
