Well it should be bigger it would be nice
you can set it in the map, but if its much bigger, you can't select all of the tiles. Eventually the other will have to start getting scaled as well. The other option, of course, is to make a whole new tileset that is 9 tiles wide... but then backwards compatibility kinda goes away.
Note is right about everything. Excaept one thing. If we make a new tileset thats nine tiles wide backwards compatibility can be easily maintained.
Each map be set to a different tile set. in fact, each layer can be set independently.
if someone wanted to redo the tileset I could set the new map to use it by default. All pre-existing maps would continue to use the old tileset

Oh right. Keep the ordering the same?
I'll get on that next week or so.
I'll get on that next week or so.
why is this bad again because in MR open it shows everything in full size
No need, you can take the opportunity to re-organise the order as well if you want to.
Maybe we could have Backgroundsactive1 and backgroundsactive2-layers, and have both be solid??
You probably can already see what I mean, but the idea is to divide the active tiles into two layers so that even if new were added, the screen won't run out of space.
The problem may or may not be that then a tile of both layers can be on a same spot in the map? Dunno if it's a problem or if it can be disabled somehow.
Another quite obvious choice could be scrolling bars, maybe?

If I wasn't to keep the same ordering, would one still be able to edit old maps with the new tileset?
No idea.
I probably would have gotten around changin it if I actually knew the code that well.
Since I don't.. Well, I'm just suggesting this to the wiser ones=D

I see what you mean. Yes, if the order of tiles was the same the old maps might work with the new tileset but I'm not promising anything.
In all the map files you would need to specify the new tileset, though, right?
So it won't be backwards compatible?
Also, what about the said scrolling bars?

Oh, I would actually just be completely redrawing the current tileset.
Adding scrolling bars would be a better long term solution, this is more of a quick fix.
Whoo! Quick fix! It gives a fair bit of leeway, but maybe I should make it 10 instead, that would give room for around 20 to 30 or so new tiles before needing to scale them again.
Yes 10 or maybe even more.
Also, we could start whole new tilesets. There could be a different new_map map for tileset.

I'm thinking that I should make a new bunch of tilesets, which have the first element empty as an eraser.
Maybe you should do that note
I need to find more time in a day!
Well you are in college right note?
That's a good idea about having the first tile as a designated eraser.
that's a good idea steve
For some reason, I had the google docs page open, and noticed the "but what about those empty tiles in the selector! Couldn't I just erase with them!?" or something of the sort ;)
Also, I think I will consider ordering them by team, and leaving some gaps to fill since I anticipat it getting a buch bigger still. Or maybe teams, bu going down in columns! (then hope that too many more teams don't form)

Yep that would be great. I sort of started off doing that myself but obviously didn't leave much room for expansion.

Backgrounds selector bigger?
