Now THAT-
I could see getting into the game- no editing needed!
Well done!

I can't animate beacuse i don't understand the instructions and Steve how dou turn the URL into and image link like put the picture directly on the comment.
PS:dont say read the instructions below cause the instructions are confusing

So the computer reads html tags to produce various effects. These are in <> brackets. The one for displaying images is img. it then looks for the link to the picture (which is src = "link here")(in the quotes)(which makes it of type String, for those who are interested).
So you have a <, then an img, then an src=", then the link, then ", and then a >.

Basically just copy what's there in the example and change the web address to where your image is.
I don't think I could explain it any better than ♪ or megaman4ever.
Just copy and paste the example and then replace the url to my joystick picture with your own url. Or do what ♪ said and type it yourself.

ok
*beep*a double post
If you don't say double post on other's double posts, I don't think you need to point out your own either.
It happens to everyone by accident. It is unavoidable.
It happens to everyone by accident. It is unavoidable.
no...i want it to be avoidable!:(
Then use chrome. I haven't had a double since I started using it.
Gnorthan likes Firefox.
and foxfire.
but that has nothing to do with it.
and foxfire.
but that has nothing to do with it.
ha foxfire!:)anyways i don't tend to change programs that often anyways.
Someday I'll put in a script to stop the double posts and remove the ones that are there already.
ya but look at this everytime i write it down there will be a massive space between <img and src.see the link will be wrong...

oh it finally works!:s
When using that, just be EXTREMELY sure that it doesn't have that big white space or anything. If you post a too large image, the website will be screwed, and you wouldn't want to do that.
thanks for the tips!
darn it!i just don't understand steve's instructions about animating.:(
I just wanted this guy to be in that alliance is because there is only 2 units
How do u animate this guy i mean he looks the same when u animate it.
If you delete the leg and then redraw it in another position, will it look the same? No.
That is animation. It's making an image move with little changes to the image.

Ok so how about he bends his legs a little to the right and he tilts his body forwards to the left
Also, fire moves. Make flickery fire :D
yes of course Darren:)
Hard...
Ok I have finally made the animation for this guy. I fixed some of the coloring and here it is.

Whoops...

Me likey;)
Not bad!
Thank you guys! Now all I need to do is the attack which shouldn't be too hard.
I like it.
Thank you Hobbes!
Ok guys should I draw the attack with the guy completely horizontal or should I just put him at certain angle but horizontal.
Whoops. I meant not horizontal at the end.
Are you asking if he should angle down when he shoots?
When he charges you mean? Yes that is what I am asking. If he should anlge down or go completely horizontal?
just angle.
So not horizontal?
yeah, sorry.
I hate drawing at an angle. It so hard but I shall try.
I could use the rotate option on GIMP but it sucks. Everytime you rotate your image it turns all fuzzy.
That's true most of the time - for example GameMaker does not fuzz up the image.
I can already think of a nickname for you, crazy: 'SketchDaSecond'
I can already think of a nickname for you, crazy: 'SketchDaSecond'
that's rather accurate.
Then I should download GameMaker for this guy.
well, on at the same time again.
Awesome. Sup Gnorthan.
not much.
P.S. if slanting is too hard, you could just try some horizontal work.

Nah if you guys want the angle, I will do it.
One thing though, should I do the animation of him going down into the angle position?
One thing though, should I do the animation of him going down into the angle position?
Probably. But the game engine might have something for angling things automatically, which is why we don't need lots of sprites for arrows, etc. but you should ask Steve first.
I should but I can't wait that long.
I'll be giving the jetpack guy a little bit of makeover as I am not satisfied with his overall look.
I will also be changing his attack as IMO, it's rather bland.

Also, a pro tip from me for spriting and rotating:
First, scale the image up with a direct multiplier of its dimensions. Make sure to use an accurate scaling, not an anti-aliased one. That is, for example, scale a 100x100 image up to 1600x1600, so that no pixels are blurred. Got it? Great. Next, rotate this humongous image you have by the angle you wanted.
Then, all you have to do is scale it back to the original size. This fixes up the minimal outline of blurred pixels in the 1600x1600 image (or whatever size was good for your picture), and the end result is sharper than what most free-angle rotation tools can do.

Thanks for tip. It will sure come in handy soon.
It looks a bit static, and at least on my screen, really dark..
Not to mention the somewhat odd proportions of his body. He looks very tall, and.. Kind of doesn't seem completely fitting, at least viewed like this without comparison or background, into the general spritey-ness of MR.. I can't quite put my mind on it. But you should at least make it quite a bit brighter, imo, so the contrast between light and shadow is more imminent (of course, lighten up the shadows a little as well, if you do).
Maybe cut a pixel off from his body & jetpack height, or raise the hands a pixel upwards, or something like that? Also, the legs are weird - they definitely need more base. Maybe two pixels in width (four, counting outline), and increase width of shoes by a pixel or two (outline-inclusive - that makes 5 or 6 pixels)? The right leg might be overlapped by the left by a single pixel, but that's fine. Think about your own body - the legs are continuation to your.. ..is it pelvis?, instead of growing from where normally would be the crotch. And they're quite muscular too, instead of like, being a single-pixel thin.

Getting the general spritey-ness of MR is usually the problem within my sprite making. It's something I can't really control. I don't notice the proportions issue though but if there is an issue for you, I'll edit the body parts/jetpack.
And yeah, I really do need to make the legs a little bulkier and make a smooth transition between the lower abdomen and the legs/feet.
Thanks for the feedback.

I wonder, what if the Jetpack guy would have a certain range. where as soon as you entered the map he would come towards you with his Jets on. Stop. Turn his jets off and begin firing at you. And if you were on the other side of terrain he could drift over it and attack you from over the terrain. The difference between him attacking you over the terrain and him moving close before attacking you would be that his Jetpack when on would make him fire weak shots like 1/12th of your health while when the jetpack is off and he is on the ground he is firing shots that are equivalent to 1/5 of your health.
I haven't really thought of an attack just yet. I'll keep your suggestion into consideration though.
I can't help pointing out:
"Weapon:charges at you with the jetpack and bashes you"
I think it might be fine like that - but I don't think it's even possible. Maybe it is, if each frame is an attack frame with no disjoint?
It's not like anything else does that. But a special weapon would be cool as well. As for TMoW's suggestion.. ..it seems a bit complex to make, but apart from that, it doesn't seem like a completely bad idea. I personally don't favour one over the other, and I don't have an additional suggestion either.

Oh, I decided to change the attack. I thought I mentioned it previously...whatever.
I also realized megaman and I are online at the same time. :D

Sorry just the little metal boxer in me remembering the random suggestions for the suggestions.
That kind of attack is possible. I would draw it as him diving forward and swooping across the attacked location, then going back around the the starting place. The little bugs have a similar kind of attack.
Well I understand it's possible. It's just that I feel like the attack is a little bland.
When I look at this, I almost imagine that it's a butterfly that attacks normally for a little while, then at some point dive bombs the nearest enemy and explodes.
