Ingredients

5 Basil: Chef gains 1% of damage inflicted in health for every one that is added to dough.
4 Mushrooms: Dough gets a little bit bigger with each one you equip.
3 Pepperoni: Increases damage done by dough.
2 Olives: Increases the speed of which the dough is thrown.
1 Anchovies: Increases the speed of which the dough is made.

You can only add so many ingredients on your pizza. The ingredient count for each pizza is directly relevant on the pizza’s usefulness.

Plain Pizza: 20 No Special
Cheese Pizza: 10 Grappling Hook (You’ll see…)
Sauce Pizza: 15 High Attack

If the Plain Pizza didn’t have 20 ingredients allowed in it, you probably wouldn’t use it at all in the late game.

Did you notice the numbers by each of the ingredients? Well, there is something of a trade going on in this game. Those numbers represent how many points each ingredient is worth. They are given points based on how rare they are (5 being highest). So, if you wanted to buy something that was 20 points, you could give the person 4 Basil, 5 Mushrooms, 7 Pepperoni (Always overdo it for numbers with a remainder), 10 Olives, 20 Anchovies, or a mixture (2 Basil, 1 Mushroom, 3 Olives). However, some dealers want exact ingredients. You’ll have to accommodate for the picky ones. (Save up on Anchovies, and you’ll be rewarded late-game)

I decided to post this as a seperate suggestion from The White Sorcerer's Food idea, since I think it is a very different concept. However, I can still use the ingredients to make food.

Clever.

I'm just wondering how the player is going to decide what they want to put their pizza.

They put stuff on to their liking. If they prefer the life-sucking power of basil, then they'll put basil. If they want high damage, they'll put pepperoni. The pizza can be modified to whatever the user wants, and that's what I think will make the pizza different from all the other weapons out there.
