I've done a rough sprite sheet but can't think of a...uh...what's the word...umm...oh, yeah! I can't think of a reel anim.

Nice Gnorthan!!
Now all we need is a full animation
Cool, Gnorthan.
Full animation of what exactly, crazymerlinman321?
it has a dynamic reel now.
tell Gnorthan what you think of the box
It's boxy.
And if you ask me, the arrow should be pointing down. That's why the T.V.'s so mad.

:)
So. Going. In.
A note with the box though: you might want to make it such that there's packing kernels or little bits of electronics spewing out of it, otherwise it might look a little weird when a TV spawns.

Oh man.\r\n\r\nLove. it.
it is awesome so can i do animations like this without making a full one?
hmm, what's /r stand for? I know /n, ... and might be caused by :
?
There should be a /n if that worked, and an empty line otherwise? Unless that just applies to steve...

\r is another kind of line break, I think.
There's line breaks, line feeds, new lines, I don't bother with them all.
\a is my favorite though. It's a beep through the internal speaker. In .NET, anyway.

yA I think this is awesome

Yay! Although I only really remember \0 and \n, well and the more obvious \", \' and \\ ones.

Although \0 is a lot more useful in C.
I looked at C once. Then I learned to make a string you need a char array. Then I went to C#. And I'm happy.

Yeah, Steve, what happened to your new comments??!?!?
Wait about the box Gnrothan, the up sign should be red instead of purple because when i first saw the box and did not realize that there was an up sign
Gnorthan agrees. This has to go in now.
as i said befor the box symbol must be red
Wait, wasn't the attack supposed to be something silly like bending the antenna back and forth to shoot out sparks?
I think so and that sounds cooler and box symbol should be red
I agree with crazy in that the marking on the box should be a clearer colour. Doesn't HAVE to be read, but it needs more visibility. Also, while the box is in 3D and angles upwards slightly, the markings appear to be perfectly straight. Shouldn't they be re-angled a little?
thank u for agreeing Darren!:)
Oh yay, the arrow's pointing down! See, that explains why the TV was mad. It didn't like being shipped upsidedown.
I think the attack could be made by stopping the TV's movement, then looping the second and fourth images in the reel(the static) twice and then have it send a spark.. somewhere.
The spark is those 8 little things in the top row of the spritesheet?

For future reference, only one spark sprite (and it needs to be moving horizontal) is needed; the game engine rotates them nicely.
lol theoretically, since its an old crt screen, the 'sparks'(cathode ray, kinda the same thing, but kinda not) could come from the screen itself.(if there were breaks in the glass) It would also leak out damaging X-rays!

Gnorthan isn't sure if there should be a spawn at all.
\r is return. I'm having a few issues here.
yA so the attack pictures look like they could be shooting some static.
does anyone know how to animate it so Gnorthan knows what it looks like?
Download a gif animator from somewhere on the internet. I'd do it for you if I was on my other laptop.
Ya like gamemaker.
No, a gif maker, not a game maker!
Ya but can't you make animations on Gamemaker?
No, crazy's right. I used GameMaker to design the original leg animation on this thing actually. I think. It is very good for animations.
It's my number one tool for animations, and I guess that says something. Maybe it's because I know it so well or that I've never tried GIMP yet, but yeah.
I have never really used gamemaker yet .I use GIMP because i just started doing animations.
GIMP is very very powerful.
oh. Gnorthan hadn't thought of game maker. thanks guys.
No probs ;) and Immortal_merlin...i know:)
GIMP is a good one to use - it's very powerful, getting better all the time and will be around for ever, so if you can do what you need to on GIMP, you'll never need anything else.
ya i pretty much do all my sprites and animations on GIMP
Cool!
thank you
Nice!Could you make the grave for the spawn?
yes.
Though it will need some "surgery" on the big part.
Or it might not as Gnorthan considers it...
If someone else wants to, be Gnorthans guest.
If someone else wants to, be Gnorthans guest.
I rather like that box grave.
Ya it is good. I like it.
alright, anything left?
Could you maybe put all the frames together?
What do you mean?
Well as you can see you posted all the frames.
I want you to put it all in a full animation. Like not frame by frame, like the reall animation.
I want you to put it all in a full animation. Like not frame by frame, like the reall animation.
Gnorthan is currently incapable of doing that, as Gnorthan does not have GIMP.
So what do you use?
pain(t).
Oh ok. Well you should get GIMP soon.( it is free)
Gnorthan's tried, though to no avail.
What do you mean?
Though Gnorthan has tried numerous times to download the GIMP, his computer is acting rather strange and refusing it.
Weird...
There's other software that can string frames together. Although, really, couldn't you do it yourself crazy?
Well I have one problem. How do copy and paste an image into the frame. Because it seperated into layers, how do I copy and paste an image on the other layers. because you can't just copy and paste the simple way.
Having never really found any use for the GIMP, I wouldn't know. Anybody?
I would definetly do that Darren but I don't know how to paste a different image on the other layers.
I wish I knew...:(
Wait for someone who uses GIMP. Me? GameMaker allows you to copy-paste.
GM6 is, yeah, a quite good tool for making gifs.
GM6 is, yeah, a quite good tool for making gifs.
Gnorthan, if you set those animations all in a row (for each specific action) with identical spacing on either side, that can be put into something like gamemaker, which can then grab each frame and divide it. But they MUST all fit in the same "tile".
Another reason to get Gamemaker...:)
I'd have done it with Game Maker myself. 'cept I don't have it any more.
Can someone give me a link to a download for Gamemaker?
Yes Gnorthan's used Gamemaker. You guys were the ones who suggested it.
Nah, 6.1 was the last good one - after that YoYo Games bought it and current free version is not nearly as good.
I guess I could zip it once I hit home next week and put it online for you to download if you want.

For GIMP: there is likely a function to concatenate layers/merge them all into one. This would let you copy/paste the whole thing, at the loss of being able to edit each section individually. Alternatively, have you tried shift or CRLT-Clicking to select multiple(assuming that you are using windows; I'm not sure if that would work for other OSs)
Ahhhh...I'll do it with GIMP, without the copy-paste. It should be fairly easy. Plus I have got time. :)
several changes.
1. it has a longer run animation that bobs, so the position of the sprite relative to the bottom of the panel has relevance.
2. because the run animation would make it go so fast to look normal, a skidding sprite has to be added to slow down.
3. two more reels have been added, either for variety of if you decide that two look really bad.
p.s. all of this is optional. we could stick to our previous plans.
Curses!
"3. two more reels have been added, either for variety or if you decide that two look really bad."
"3. two more reels have been added, either for variety or if you decide that two look really bad."
I quite like the third reel better.
me likey. Next time I have some time and internet at the same time, I will add this in.
Yes! It must be added!
in hindsight that seems almost obligatory.
I now like the first reel better.
These will be found near Verdanlin. Along with anything else that's kinda strange and doesn't quite fit in nicely anywhere else.
That makes sense.
Well, that would describe it. "kinda strange".
Another way to describe it. "really awesome".
True. What would be the other monsters then? Sort of awesome?
Done done done done done done done done done done
done done done done done done done done done done
They are incredibly aggressive.

Sweet! I look forward to blasting these soon! HIYA!
Merlin should be able to spout cheeky catchphrases as he kills certain enemies in certain numbers.
"I'll change YOUR channel!"
"My fists are a signal and you're receiving it!"
"I'll change YOUR channel!"
"My fists are a signal and you're receiving it!"
Hehehe, "I'll change YOUR channel", that's awesome!
Do-able... though it may be a little annoying to the player(and some amount of programming work)
Yeah, the problem is that it's only funny the first five or so times, then it gets old.
Exactly my thoughts.
Exactly. Have just a few phrases for each enemy. When they run out, stop.
Of course, it's just a little nitpick.
Of course, it's just a little nitpick.
There could just be an option.
hmm. Both seem pretty reasonable, though I think having it as an option might be best. Then, folks like garonlin and the sarcastic prince vulture will work properly.
