Can someone tell me how to upload images from my pictures so i can show you my ideas?
Soz about this im new with all this images thing.
Soz about this im new with all this images thing.
Sure. First, you need to upload the image to Photobucket or some other online picture storage. An address will be made for it, which you can normally find pretty close to the image. Copy it, write out the HTML code to either make a link or put in a picture (check the HTML code box for info :) ) then replace "http://www.themetalbox.com" or "http://www.themetalbox.com/images/icons/games.gif" (respecively) with whatever the link was. (That you already copied, right?)

You know, I was reading through this, (very fun to do) and I saw that ♪ suggested a shadow. That could be really useful, really.
You cast a spell like a normal spell- save it's a slightly transparent black and it's an oval when you cast it. Once it hits the point that the person clicks on, it starts to shrink. At the same time, an object appears relative to the size of the shadow, right above it, but off-screen (so like yShadow + y20 or whatever number seems good enough). As the shadow shrinks, the object falls, and when it hits, it transforms into an "impact object" which looks exactly the same, (save a small shock-wave) and damages any enemies touching it.
So, in that matter, you are charging the "shadow", and the "shadow" selects the "object", which falls on the "shadow", which is shrinking and dissapears exactly when the "impact object" hits...
If you made sense of that, then you deserve a cookie.

In other words the object changes as you charge it, starts falling as soon as you fire it and changes from a shadow into whatever object you charged the shadow to when it hits?
Close, but no.
1. Merlin charges his spell.
2. He casts the shadow, not the object.
3. The object appears high above the shadow.
4. The object falls to the shadow as the shadow shrinks.
5. When it collides with the shadow, it becomes its impact sprite (damaging the enemies around it) and the shadow dissapears.
6. The object dissapears (or perhaps forms a grave? Like the mallet top sticking out or some scattered piano keys)
7. Super_Merlin gets a cookie. And I buy a hot tub.

I was picturing it being like:
1. merlin charges a the spell
2. merlin releases the spell
3. a blackish splotch on the ground (shadow) moves towards the target (like energy pulse , but doesn't hit stuff that is in the way(eg. goblins))
4. when it reaches the target, the explosion animation starts
•begin animation: shadow sprite is replaced with explosion/landing sprite which has its own shadow included
•object starts falling down(shadow grows/becomes more defined edges(less diffraction of sunlight (I think)))
•object hits the ground/explodes or whatever(does damage on this frame)
5. object fades/disapears (likely does not fade(transparence problems))

Actually the shadow would shrink, due to being closer to its object, but it would get darker and more defined.
The above is sort of what I was thinking, except I just imagined Merlin shooting out the shadow, which essentially looks like it is moving across the field, just at spell-cast speed. The two concepts seem different, but I don't know why, lol

Trouble with the object coming in from offscreen is that it would have to...like...start of huge then shrink as it gets further from the bird (who's eye-view we see the game from) and closer to the ground...
No, I mean it just falls from the top of the screen. Yes, technically, it would be moving in from the side, but I think it will look enough like falling to pass. Subconscious brain-waves and what-not. :)
That would look lame to me :/
w00t! Comment 100!
ahem
Well, well...it would look lame, lol
I guess you could have it big and then shrink as it's falling...but I don't know, it misses something. I gues you can't really do falling in a game like this without a certain level of "lameness", lol
We could forget falling, of course. Just have Merlin launch it like a regular spell, just with a curved arch so it looks like it's falling.
I mean like, it's a semi circle like ( , save it's rotated 90 degrees to the right and lengthened as far as the object is thrown. That might work.

YEAH COMMENT 100 CHAMPAGE TIME *pops open a champage cap*
That would be tricky...why can't it just start quite big? Say, the size of the blast, then quickly shrink until it lands (solid gold objects fall fast enough that you wouldn't need many shrinking frames)
Yes, that would work...as long as there is some sort of impact sprite that sends out shockwaves at the bottom.
What's a Champage? :o, never knew such a thing existed.
*drinks his champagne while TMOW drinks champage*

.....what about the turtle one ozzy made
He made a turtle champagne???
I'm only 11!!! I can't drink!!!!!
no no XD be funny tohugh but in the comment lokey said something about champage time
No, not at all.
then what more bigger?
Read all the comments on this page for what you need. Golden, bigger, other stuff.
So i have to make a golden safe,a golden anvil, sledgehammer, weight lfting set and a Piano. All golden...wow i got some work to do
Have fun!
I'll try to have fun ok time to get sweaty!
At least there will be no need for animation I guess? Just make them rotating... Or not.
I prefer not
Yeah, they can be tilted afterwards is need calls.
Isn't it classical to have a piano tilted by 25 degrees when falling?
Isn't it classical to have a piano tilted by 25 degrees when falling?
Ya classical but very painful
Especially when it lands on you.
Event thinking about it makes me shiver.
I think it's classical for a grand piano, but a classical piano is tilted at 45 degrees.
Uprights can be dropped parallel to the ground such that the dropee can go up inside said piano and re-appear unscathed but humorously dusty as piano collapses around him, one side at a time. A couple of blinks to imply "why does this always happen to me?" should suffice to leave the cinematograph audience in uproarious laughter.

Could you imagine a goblin getting hit by a piano?
It would squish like a tomato.
No, it would squish like a tomato.
No, it would become a tomato. Then squish.
No, you're both saying it wrong. It's "tomato", not "tomato". Sheesh, get it right.
What difference is there between "tomato" and "tomato"?
I just don't get it.
I just don't get it.
I know that the difference is there, I just choose to ignore it.
megaman: Something we say in the states, "Some say tomato, some say tomato".
The difference is the second time it's said they say it like "Tom auto" instead of "Tom ate oh".

Basically tomato is the American version, whereas tomato is the European version. Curiously, potato is the same in both areas.
we use both toh-may-doe an to-ma-doh and poe-tae-doh and poh-tah-toe.
I love saying pat tat to
Poh-TAY-to. So fun to say.
Steve, we can't hear you speak through comments, you have to type how it's pronounced in Europe for us to get it. lol! You so did that on purpose!
I guess I pronounce it like:
fonetics:
pot-ei-toeh
the way you guys have been doing:
pot-tay-to

pot-tay-to
I meant pot-ay-to, not to have a long 't' there.

Pot-ay-to...i hate writing how to pronoucne things.
Interesting how you spelled phonetics half-phonetically. I'm not sure what the term for that is.
Oh yeah.
"Bad spelling".
hehehe.
Oh yeah.
"Bad spelling".
hehehe.
Ya could you imagine on a spelling test someone writes the words in phonetics.0/20
Well excuuuuuuse mee for not being English - I believe phonetics are written just like Finnish, so I just wrote how I say potato if I would have to write it in Finnish.
I believe, though, that the phonetics are right and the pot-ay-to was wrong, since I had to use alot of time to think about it, since... Well, writing 'pot-ay-to' is weird, and I've never tried that before.

autologic.
Phonetic is heterologic.
Phonetic is heterologic.
Megaman4ever,how do you write potato in Finnish?
It's written 'peruna', why?
I don't know,i just wanted to know.
Just asking.:)
ummm so it has to be huge, and golden, and it should leave a mark like the sumo guy from MR2.
Image, and the hammer should follow the curser of couse:
somtin like this?
Image, and the hammer should follow the curser of couse:

tht was only the sledge, like others say, have fun crazy merlin! ^^
wth!it still didnt do it T.T i give on trying to crop it T.T
PS.I do know how to crop!!!
PS.I do know how to crop!!!
Meh. Not bad. Not good. Just meh.
yea i doesnt look nice, but i like the bowling balls a little to be hoenest.
The hammer gives off that you have no three-dimensional visualisation of the object you are about to draw, if the hammer is supposed to even remotely look like a real one.
You should leave one end look like that, but if both ends are towards the guy who's looking at the hammer, that must mean that it's curved back to the looker.
Yeah, some of the bowling balls actually look ok, and are about appropriate size. Or would be, if we weren't making an piano, but I would prefer few 4x4 or 6x6 balls which somehow look exactly like bowling balls, rather than giant balls like that.

Hehe...the bowling balls look like a bunch of those smileys that Steve never got around to coding into the site.
Dang, you're right!
All of those images are cropped well enough, I don't see how you didn't crop one.
The hammer is really big, that's why it takes many rows, if you were wondering about that.

How are we going to do the piano? It sounds very hard.
be4 it wasnt cropped then now it suddenly cropped wat is happining?
"You are going through a metamorphosis. Two sides of your body are in conflict, as they try to determine who you really are. The process will not be pleasant. But in the end, you will become the man you were meant to be."
...or perhaps you're just looking at it differently? I don't think it was cropped any other way before.

Like in some cartoons, there is a angel on the right and a devil on the right. They argue.
Turf War. Nobody wants to be stuck on the left shoulder;)
Whoopsy daisy! I meant devil on the left shoulder!
Oops. I have to get started on this.
Well, I made most of the objects. I have yet to do the weights and the piano.
Upload please! =O
You will also need to make summon tiles.
Making the spell might be possible under the current set: if you want to, it will need to be a mix between a multistage spell(like undead summon, for example), and energy pulse(act_energyPulseSpell). You will also need to make some data for each projectile. They will be very similar to the energy pulse bullets(act_energyPulse)
That should be all the info you would need to make the spell, if it will work without extra code.

Ya but don't I have to add te gfx?
Oh. The images. They were all made in the size of 38x38. I was thinking that the piano should surpass that size and just be bigger, like 46x46.
Here is the safe.
Here is the anvil.
Here is the sledgehammer.
Here is the safe.

Here is the anvil.

Here is the sledgehammer.

Hehe, the sledgehammer reminds me of the hammer in Super Smash Bros Brawl. :)
Anyways, I honestly think that the golden safe's shading should look more...natural shall I say? The dark side is ok but the light side just looks a little irregular. Also, since it will be slanted while it is falling or atleast spinning, you should make slanted images with the shading because we can't keep the same shading in the same spots while it is rotating.
As for the anvil. Just needs a little touching. :)
Sledgehammer is ok. The shading needs to be more natural again.
So overall, work on the shading and it will lead you to awesome hammershotness!
Cool, I think I created a word. :)

So I have to make an image of it slanting?
Yes.
Sorry that I remove this from my roadmap. I was actually looking forward to this but when I started working on it, I realized I lacked the graphics expertise.
Like a golden piano? I can't do that lol.

I bet I could.
Like, just some four slanted outlines of varying lengths, the legs, and a nice shading.
But, you know, it's like 3:33 am, so I'll give a thought on that later. Or, I guess more accurate would be to say "never", but meh.

I wish you luck...if you ever start working on them. Maybe on a day where I feel REALLY good and no one has worked on this, I could do a couple of the objects like the safe or something.
I'm feeling pretty good right now. I'll give it a try.

Dat's pretty.
In my completely nonprofessional opinion, it needs more gradient and twinkle.
For 15 minutes in Paint, Awesome!

cool!
I tried to add some twinkle and it looked good on my monitor, but right now I'm on another computer and.. There's no noticeable difference even close up. Maybe my desktop's contrast settings are messed up.
Well, as I said, it's alright. Feel free to edit if you're up for it, but that's pretty much the limit of my nonprofessional ability ^^;

It's surprising how much difference there is between different monitors.
I think xkcd's survey had something to say about the differences in rgb colours between different screens. Or maybe that was one of the input conditions.
Screen angle would also make a pretty big difference, along with having programs like f.lux
